Why you might want to set an overall display width

When you have arranged the display of your photos and want them either to show side by side or have some empty space along their left and right sides you should set a display width to guarantee that space is preserved. If you are planning to later insert text in between the photos such as by use of eBay's Standard editor then assigning a width here tends to produce a better result because it corrals the spread of the text. Here are a couple of examples:

Let's say you wanted your photos to display 2 across down the page like this:

If you do not assign an overall width they may
instead end up displaying one above the other like this:

Which may or may not be a bad thing,
but not what you expected.

Now, imagine these photos and text as larger sized intended to go down the page:

The text you enter in between may extend out beyond the edges of the photos and possibly all the way out to the edge of the page in which they are displayed.

By assigning an overall display width you corral
the text into the width you assign like this:

The text you enter in between won't extend any further out beyond the edges of the photos than you want it to producing a more professional and easier to read result.
